The davit on the lifeboat is one of the most important equipment, and we usually ignore some problems, let's learn together below!

First, the design and installation issues

Due to insufficient consideration in the design and installation of the boat frame, the distance between the davit cable drum and the guide pulley is too small, which results in limited left and right movement when the davit cable drum is wound, and can only be wound in the middle part, and cannot be evenly wound on the drum. According to the requirements of “National Standard GB 13406-92 Technical Specifications for Davits, the horizontal distance between the centerline of the lifeboat winch drum and the centerline of the deck vertical guide pulley is not less than 2.5m to ensure that the winch drum cable is neatly arranged. In the inspection, if it is found that the distance between the reel and the guide pulley is too small, and the hoisting ropes are not aligned properly, it can be treated as a defect. The wire rope is severely entangled in the middle part of the roller, and even gets stuck in the wire rope, which easily causes the wire rope and the remote control boating wire to be unable to be lowered synchronously, the wire rope stuck and unable to come out, and the wire ropes are extruded and deformed.

Second, maintenance issues

1. Maintenance and repair problems The crew of the gondolas should replace it on their own, using non-twist-resistant steel cables. The rules clearly require that lifeboat davits should use anti-torsion steel cables, however, the crew did not know about this and usually bought 6 ordinary steel cables directly to install and replace. The anti-twist wire rope is usually double-layer, multi-strand and less wire, and there are specifications such as 18X19. There is no 6-strand specification for the torsion-resistant wire rope in the “GBP GB 8706”. The party cannot provide the type approval certificate of the davit rope or the type approval certificate of the davit rope does not indicate that the wire rope is anti-twist type and can be treated as a defect.

2. The davit rope is painted with butter. Over a long period of time, the tallow adheres to the slag, clinker, and the shedding of the slag, and the exposed wire rusts at some exposed points. The maintenance of davits should be painted with special steel wire oil, and the painting must be even.
